In the past two years we have hosted a variety of social events including a card making cafe hour for the GSA at La Grande High School with Project Believe in Me, a 2012 voter party, Feminist Day at the Bluffs, and Feminist Day at the Swifts.
In the last two years we have sponsored and provided volunteer support for various community events including a benefit for the members of Pussy Riot, Dis/Orient/ed Comedy, Basic Rights Oregon, the Pride Foundation, Project Believe in Me, and The Living Room.
Gender Seminar Curriculum Development for Incarcerated Men & Women
Rachel & Katie are currently facilitating pilot seminars on gender issues to Restorative Justice participants at Oregon State Correctional Institution. Soon the seminar will be launched at Oregon State Penitentiary and eventually Coffee Creek Correctional Institution.
Youth in Crisis Guide
We are currently partnered with the PNW Regional PFLAG Chapter to develop a guide to resources for youth experiencing suicidal thoughts or bullying to reach those in rural parts of Oregon and Washington.
Dress for Success Clothing Drive
In March 2012, we engaged employees at several local businesses including Mercy Corps, The Oregon Food Bank Multnomah County, and the School of Rock to hold multiple on-month clothing drives for Dress for Success Oregon. And let’s just say, it was a huge SUCCESS!
Miss Representation Screening and Launch Event
Feminist Agenda PDX launched in January of 2012 with a free community screening of Miss Representation and Generation of Consolidation at Mercy Corps. Over 200 community members and students from all over Portland attended and donations went to support Reel Grrls.
